Ramona Thomas, My Chocolate Soul®

My Chocolate Soul grew out of Ramona’s love of baking and chocolate, and her frustration with long candy labels with artificial ingredients. Although she had baked for nearly two decades, the initial idea for starting the business came after taking an introduction to French pastries course at the French Pastry School in Chicago, which changed her life. Ramona felt so at home in a commercial kitchen that she immediately began thinking about how she could spend more time in one doing what she loved. She launched and ran My Chocolate Soul in Chicago from 2011 to 2019 until relocating back to her hometown of New York City where she runs the business part-time.

Ramona is a graduate (with honors) of Ecole Chocolat’s Professional School of Chocolate Arts Professional Chocolatier Program. She also completed the Barry Callebaut Chocolate Academy’s program for professional chocolatiers, and continuing education courses at the French Pastry School and Barry Callebaut Chocolate Academy in Chicago. Before founding My Chocolate Soul, Ramona had an entrepreneurial career in education and philanthropy. She holds a B.S. in Applied Mathematics from Brown University and a Ph.D. in Higher Education from the University of Pennsylvania.
