A weekend in Wales #1

I have been looking forward to the weekend just gone for ages! Having only ever driven through Wales to jump on a ferry en route to somewhere else, I was so excited when this destination was chosen and eagerly awaited the date to roll around to see what all the fuss was about.

Pre- our little trip, Wales had always conjured up images of sheep and rain (I know, I know -stay with me though) but this weekend has changed everything!

12 of us left for Poppit Sands in west Wales after work on Friday for a cheeky weekend break to celebrate a 30th birthday. We had glorious sunshine, super friendly villagers and scenery so beautiful it was hard to take your eyes off it. Couple that with copious amounts of food, and equal proportions of alcohol and you have a weekend break winner.

Our cute little cottage for the weekend.

Our funny little hire car for the duration was a new Juke. Perfectly formed for our cheeky getaway with SO MUCH boot space.

Us townies were besotted with the ‘livestock’ we found in the next garden along…

…and the pièce de résistance- our heated pool!

We spent our first night catching up with everyone, accompanied by large Gin measures (standard) and settling into our new ‘home’ for the weekend.

First impression of Wales = fabulous!

I love Wales, I particularly have a soft spot for North Wales as the landscape is truly beautiful. I haven’t been to west Wales so I will add that to the list.

It was so beautiful. I cannot believe it has taken me so long to visit! Where would you recommend for the next Welsh visit?
